Jason Keller Quotes:
A Championship Contender... Jason Keller and the Albertsons Team are conquering new territory. Keller, currently second in points, finds himself higher in points midway through the season then in his pervious eight years in the NASCAR Busch Series.
"This team has been able to capitalize on many opportunities this year, but at the same time we've missed a few," said Keller. "At the beginning of the season we were still in our stride from 2001 while many teams were struggling. Now those teams are going strong and we have to be more consistent than we have been to remain a contender and hopefully win our first championship. The idea of not only contending for - but also winning- the championship is just starting sink in now that were past midway and I'm less than 40 points out of the lead. I can't start thinking defensively, but I am beginning to size up the competition.
"We knew at the beginning of the season that Greg (Biffle) was going to be strong this year. We figured we would be toe to toe with him all season long. By no means, however, is my teammate Scott Riggs or Jack Sprague out of the championship race. I think it will come down to the wire, and that makes the battle each week more exciting."
On Chicagoland Speedway... Keller finished fifth at Chicagoland in 2001 after starting 31st.
"Chicago is a tough track and it wasn't a great track for our team even though we finishing fifth. I want to go back and improve my qualifying, which should lead to a better finish. Last year it was a difficult race that took determination and strategy for us to finish fifth after starting so far back.
"This weekend I'm running the special paint scheme of Jewel-Osco. So many people commented on the car in Milwaukee that it's neat to know how many people are paying attention to my season. I would love to bring home a win for the Jewel-Osco employees and shoppers."
