Notes & Quotes

The Equipment... The Phillips 66 team will compete with "Chumley" this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. "Chumley" made its last appearance at Nashville Superspeedway in June, finishing 10th. The same car also ran at Richmond, New Hampshire and Nazareth Speedway earlier this year.

Consistency... Casey Mears and the Phillips 66 team scored their fourth top-20 finish in their last four starts with a 16th-place performance at Daytona International Speedway last weekend.

A First... This weekend's Tropicana Twister 300 will mark the first time Casey Mears has competed at Chicagoland Speedway. The 24-year-old made the switch to stock cars this season after spending the previous eight seasons in the off-road and open-wheel ranks, much like his dad and uncle.

At Chicagoland in 2001... The Phillips 66 team finished 23rd during the running of the inaugural Busch Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Happy Birthday... Crew chief Donnie Richeson team member Bruce Cook will celebrate his birthday on Tuesday, July 9. The Ownesboro, KY., native has served as crew chief for the No. 66 Dodge since 1999.

Casey Mears' Thoughts On Visiting A Track For The First Time... "I always look forward to going to a track for the first time because it presents a new challenge for me to try and conquer. The only negative part about the whole process is the time it takes to adjust to a new track and get a feel for the preferred line. Our team raced at Chicago last season so we will have a baseline to start from in terms of setup even though we've switched manufacturers."
