TEAM MARINES RACING NOTES & QUOTES:
Two Associate Sponsors Partner with Team Rensi Motorsports at Chicagoland: Chicago-based Connie's Pizza and ABC Auto Parts have signed on as associate sponsors of the No. 25 Team Marines Ford Taurus for the Tropicana 300 at Chicagoland Speedway on July 13, 2002.
Connie's Pizza--After 38 years, the small storefront location is just a fond memory and has made way for new award-winning restaurants and a retail presence in the Chicago market. Today, Connie's is the official pizza at Wrigley Field, Comsikey Park, and the United Center. They have also been voted as "Best Pizza" at the "Taste of Chicago," for three years and counting.
ABC Auto Parts--ABC Auto Parts, located in Blue Island, IL, has Chicago's largest inventory of in-stock late model used parts. This will mark the company's second year as an associate sponsor on the No. 25 Team Marines Ford.
Bobby Hamilton, Jr. on Chicagoland:
"The inaugural Busch Series race at Chicagoland last year was not the greatest experience for me. I only made it 23 laps before getting caught up in an accident that ended my day. With it being a new track last year, there was only one groove, which made it tough to pass. On the other hand it one of the fast, slick race tracks that I enjoy racing on. You need a good handling car, a lot of horsepower. Chicago is Ed's home and I'd love nothing more than to get him back to victory lane, this time on his home turf."
Fred Wanke on Chicagoland:
"I have never been to Chicagoland, so this will be a new experience for me. I have heard it is an excellent facility. I have pulled information from a couple of sources and have been told that it's pretty similar to Kansas Speedway. If that's the case, I feel pretty good about our chances this weekend. I finished 2nd with Musgrave in the 1 truck last year at Kansas. So I feel like I have a good starting point. We'll work on making adjustments during both practice sessions and make sure Bobby is comfortable with how the car is performing. I feel confident that when the green flag drops we'll have exactly what we need for a strong finish."
Hamilton, Jr., who currently sits eighth in the Busch Series points standings, will drive Devil Dog in the Tropicana 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. This will mark "Devil Dog's " fifth appearance. Darlington (12th), Nashville (3rd) a, Texas (8th), and Dover (3rd).
Hamilton, Jr. will appear at the Connie's Pizza, Naperville location on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 from 6pm to 7:50pm to sign autographs, greet fans and enjoy a slice of the legendary Connie's pizza.
