DOVER, Del. - With only 33 laps left in the MBNA.com 200 Saturday, Jimmie Johnson had his No. 92 ALLTEL/Nokia Herzog Motorsports Chevrolet in eighth position closing on the leaders until a flat tire forced him to make a green flag pit-stop. The stop would not only cost Johnson two laps, but he would leave the pits in 18th position where he would later finish. "We were having a great day," Johnson said. "I must have flat-spotted the tires trying to dodge the last wreck which led to the flat tire a couple of laps later. Finishing the race 18th doesn't justify where we ran all day. We had a top-10 car, but luck just wasn't on our side." Despite the disappointing finish, Johnson put in a stellar performance, working his way inside the top 10 from the 24th starting spot. "When we started the race, the car was tight, but as we got more laps it got better," Johnson said. "While others were slowing down we were getting faster, which helped us go toward the front." Johnson and the ALLTEL Racing team will spend the off week preparing for the All Pro Bumper-to-Bumper 300, which will be held October 7 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
