BUSCH: Joe Nemechek wins pole for Daytona night race

Daytona Beach, Fla--Joe Nemechek grabbed the Bud Pole Award for Friday's night race under the lights at the famed Daytona International Speedway. Nemechek won top honors in his No. 87 NEMCO Chevy with his fast lap in 48.441 seconds, a speed of 185.793 mph.

Bill Davis Racing's Scott Wimmer will start alongside Nemechek in row one. Wimmer turned a fast lap in a No. 23 Dodge at 185.452 mph. This is his first event in a Dodge.

Evans Motorsports' Randy LaJoie, RCR's Jay Sauter and ST Motorsports' Stacy Compton round out the top five.

Raybestos Rookie of the Year points leader, Scott Riggs, will roll off of the grid sixth, next to series' point leader, Hendrick Motorsports' Jack Sprague who will start in seventh.

Last week's race winner, Greg Biffle will start eighth in his No. 60 Ford. BACE driver Tony Raines will start ninth while Hank Parker Jr. driving the No. 36 Dodge will close out the top ten.

Only 43 teams attempted to qualify. Therefore, every car will be in Friday night's race. This is the Busch Series first mid-summer night race at Daytona.
