Jeff Green On PPIR: Jeff Green, 2000 NASCAR Busch Series Champion and driver of the No. 10 Nestlé Nesquik Ford Taurus, is the defending race winner at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
"What is fun about racing at Pikes Peak is that is has a lot of racing grooves, so you can pass anywhere," said Green. "You can run on the bottom, you can run up high. It is a pretty wide race track, which usually means long green flag runs during the race. This race could easily come down to fuel mileage."
"Pikes Peak is a tri-oval shaped like a lot of the 1.5 mile race tracks we race on, however the difference is that Pikes Peak is a one mile track," said Green. "I like it a lot because of that difference. A track that size gives a lot more racing room."
200th Career Start: When Green takes the green flag for the start of the Busch Series event at Pikes Peak, it will be his 200th NASCAR Busch Series start. Green won his first Busch event at Las Vegas on his 100th career start, so hopefully this milestone will have the exact same results.
Did you know? That because of the altitude change, the crews have to set up their cars differently.
"One interesting thing about Colorado is the altitude change," said Green. "The teams have to tune the motors differently because of the altitude and the air intake."
Favorite Things About Colorado: Green shares why he enjoys coming to the Colorado area to race.
"It isn't every day you get to come to Colorado, so that is special in itself to go there and race," said Green. "I'm an outdoors kind of guy, so I like being out in the area, when I can see deer come out and cross the road. That is really neat to me."
Equipment: Green and his Nesquik Racing team are taking the same car they won with at Charlotte earlier this year. The only other race it has competed in was the spring Dover event.
