Jeff Green On Michigan: Jeff Green, 2000 NASCAR Busch Series Champion and driver of the No. 10 Nestlé Nesquik Ford Taurus, is searching for his first win at Michigan International Speedway.
"For some reason or another, I haven't had much success in the past at Michigan," said Green. "I've had a lot of good runs there, but I always seem to have some sort of mechanical problem that costs us a good finish. I think this year, we will finally be able to get rid of the problems and have a finish that matches our ability."
"The keys to success at Michigan are having a good motor, a great handling race car and the correct pit road strategy because the race always comes down to fuel mileage," said Green. "Michigan is a track where you have long green flag runs typically, so fuel mileage will always be a factor. You can have the fastest car on the track, but if you have to pit for fuel one more time then everybody else, then it doesn't matter."
Michigan Testing: The Nesquik Racing team chose not to test at Michigan, however Green has logged some laps at the 2-mile speedway this year already.
"I was able to get some experience this year at Michigan when I ran in the Cup race in June," said Green. "I was not scheduled to run that race, however, when qualifying at Dover got rained out, we had to make up a race and chose to try again the next weekend at Michigan. I know running that race will help with the Busch race this weekend because I was able to log some laps on the new tire. I feel like I have a better line around the track now, which, hopefully, will give me one up on everyone else."
Car Owner Home: Greg Pollex, car owner for the No. 10 Nesquik Ford Taurus, resides in Howell, Michigan which is located one hour west of Michigan Speedway. Pollex's business, Structured Financial Associates, is based out of Southfield, Michigan. Greg's daughter, Jill, who works at ppc Racing and also is the pit scorer for the Nesquik Racing team, was born and raised in Brighton, Michigan.
Equipment: Green and his Nesquik Racing team are taking the same car to Michigan they competed with at California and Chicago earlier this year, where they finished third and sixth respectively.
"This car is a high downforce, low drag car that is suited perfectly for Michigan," said crew chief, Harold Holly. "It has a slicker, speedway type body. The car performed well at California and Chicago earlier this year. We almost won California, so I think we'll be tough this weekend."
