"Atlanta is a horsepower and handling track," said Green. "Roush gives us excellent motors so I know we'll be good in the horsepower department. Harold Holly, my crew chief, and myself are working hard to dial in our new Nesquik Ford Taurus. The Ford should be much better than our Chevy last year. It has better drag, so it will go through the air better. That is what you want at a speed track like Atlanta."
On the season so far: Green is thrilled about the way the season has started in 2001.
"We are still learning about the Ford Taurus and the new Goodyear tire as far as how I want the car to feel. We haven't won, but we have three top-10 finishes in our first three races and our worst finish is eighth. When you are running for the championship, that is what you want, to be consistent. I feel like if we keep hanging around the top-five each week, then the wins will come and we'll keep gaining more and more points."
"I'm really proud of my crew," said Green. "They really dug in this winter and got all of our new cars built. The Ford Taurus is an awesome race car. We are still learning about it and when we do get it figured out, I know we'll be dominant like we were last year."
The Last Two Years at Atlanta: Green is looking to improve his performance at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
"In 1999, we ran really well but got into an accident on a restart," said Green. "In 2000, we had a tire come loose on a pit stop and lost a lap. This is one of the weekends we need to improve our finish in order to win that second championship and that is what we are setting out ot do."
Testing at Atlanta: Green and the Nesquik Racing team tested at Atlanta Motor Speedway on February 19th and 20th for the upcoming Aaron's 312 NASCAR Busch Series event.
"Weather was about the same when we tested, which means all of our data will be the same" said Green. "We worked mostly on our handling package. I feel we should have a shot at a top-five start and a top-five finish."
Equipment: The Nesquik Racing team is taking car number 7 to Atlanta. This is the same car Green ran at Las Vegas last week, finishing fifth and also won with at Rockingham in the fall of 2000.
