TALK ABOUT YOUR DAY.
"It was really good. We kept working on the car, it stayed tight all day. We tested here a few weeks ago and we learned a lot about the Fords. I really felt, and I know that I haven't had a lot of success here, that we could come back here and run well. We unloaded off the truck and ran well. We had a lot of momentum coming into this race after Loudon and a great finish last week in Nazareth. To run good here is extra-special because all of the guys work here locally. They can have something to be proud of. This is a real tough race track for us, and just to continue building on what we got, Albertsons and Ford is a great combination right now."
WHAT COULD YOU HAVE DONE TO YOUR CAR AT THE END TO BE UP FRONT RACING JEFF AND MATT?
"At the time, I used up everything I had and I was just really holding on. It looked like they were going to get pretty aggressive, but to do what we did and be able to see the leaders and race with them all day long is a huge improvement over where we usually are here."
COULD YOU SEE THE LAST-LAP ACTION BETWEEN THE TWO FRONT RUNNERS?
"I had the best seat in the house. I know that Humpy has seats all around this place, but I had the best seat in the house. Jeff ran strong all day and Matt ran strong all day, and then at the end, we used up everything we had. The only way that we were going to get by was if something happened to them. I'm just proud and honored to be able to come here and race good like we need to. This is a big step for our race team, and that's what we need to continue to do."
ANY HOPE THAT THOSE GUYS WERE GOING TO TAKE EACH OTHER OUT?
"One of those guys was my teammate and the other is sitting right beside me here. I'm just glad that we were running good. I really felt that maybe I could get up there and race with them, but I wasn't cheering for them to take one another out. I was just cheering for them to hold each other up and then maybe I could race with them."
