Shane Wallace Returns To Action at IRP
Rookie Looks To Make Second Start Of The Season
August 4, 2004 (Mooresville, North Carolina) - 20-year-old Shane Wallace would like to race every week in the NASCAR Busch Series and he continues to move toward that goal. Wallace will look to make his second start of the season at the Indianapolis Raceway Park on Saturday night as he pilots his #63 SPEED RACER Chevrolet in the running of the Kroger 200.
"I am definitely ready to get back behind the wheel," stated Wallace. "We have been working hard on our cars and we should have a very good piece here for IRP. The track seems to fit my driving style really well as we had a solid run there last year in the truck race. As long as we can keep our nose clean we should be in pretty good shape."
IRP will make the second start of the year for the Utica, New York native and his family owned team. His other outing saw him earn a very respectable 20th place finish at the Nashville Superspeedway. In all, this will mark the third career start for Shane in the NASCAR Busch Series. The start will also be the second of his short career at the .686-mile track at IRP - he finished an impressive 16th place last season at the track while competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event.
"We did very well in our season debut back in Nashville with this #63 SPEED RACER Chevrolet," stated Shane. "We should be pretty competitive this week at IRP. With the one-day event we will need to get the chassis set-up under us fairly quickly and focus on qualifying since we have no provisionals. This one day show is how I am used to racing - we did it back in the Hooters Cup Series as well as our Late Model days so it should be something that we are used to. I am excited about this week and look for a solid run on Saturday night."
In addition to IRP this week, Shane and his SPEED RACER team will look to run approximately 3 - 4 more races the rest of the NASCAR Busch Series season.
