11th-Place Finish Brings Consistency to Team TRIMSPA
Indianapolis, IN (August 8, 2004) 0x2022 TRIMSPA driver David Stremme survived the carnage of night racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park to finish 11th in the Kroger 200 Saturday evening. Stremme qualified ninth but ran in the top five for much of the race.
"At the end of the night I know the guys on the TRIMSPA Team felt a little disappointed," said Stremme, driver of the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge. "We came here with high expectations. But I will take an eleventh as a bad day anytime."
At the drop of the green, Stremme promptly climbed four spots to fifth position. Stremme's first pit stop came under caution on lap 52. After a slight miscue in the pits, Stremme restarted 15th and began picking up positions to the 12th spot when a caution came out on lap 111. Team TRIMSPA elected to stay out to catch another caution, giving them slightly fresher tires during the final 50 laps. Shortly after Stremme narrowly avoided a wreck on lap128, he made his final pit stop of the day under caution, restarting 17th on lap 139.
"I was loose in and loose off for a good portion of the night," admitted Stremme. "But all in all the TRIMSPA Dodge was strong, we just would have needed better luck with track position to get a higher finish."
Over the closing 60 laps Stremme made a final charge and picked up six positions to finish eleventh. The solid run boosted Stremme two positions in drivers' points into the 16th spot.
Stremme and Team TRIMSPA will be back in action for the Cabela's 250 at Michigan International Speedway, on Saturday, August 21st. The event will be televised live at 1 p.m. eastern time on TNT and will broadcast nationally at that same time on radio stations affiliated with Motor Racing Network (MRN) and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
