Sadler looks at options for 1999

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 22, 1998) Hermie Sadler announced today he has been given permission by Diamond Ridge Motorsports owner Gary Bechtel to look into other opportunities for the 1999 racing season.

Sadler, who has another year remaining on his contract with Diamond Ridge, says he asked for permission to seek other options due to the unsettled sponsorship with his team.

"It is no secret this season has not been what we all expected," Sadler said. "But throughout it all we have remained in the top 10 most of the season, which says a lot for our team.

DeWalt Industrial Tools, which had sponsored Sadler's NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division team prior to its purchase by Bechtel, previously announced it would not return in 1999 as sponsor of the No. 29 Chevrolets.

"I just need to look and see what is out there for me," Sadler said. "If Gary acquires sponsorship that will enable us to keep our team together and give us a second year to grow, that would certainly be one of the options I would be interested in. But if not, I want to try and position myself with another team that will give me the opportunity to win races every week."
