MADISON, IL (July 10, 2000) -- Award-winning television journalist Pete Peterson has been named Grand Marshal for the CARQUEST Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Busch Grand National event, to be held July 29th at Gateway International Raceway, just outside St. Louis, MO.

Host for the three-time Emmy award winning show "Motor Sports Weekly", seen nationally on Fox Sports, Peterson is also the Sports Director and nightly sports anchor for KTVI-FOX 2 in St. Louis.

Peterson has won several broadcasting awards, including five as Associated Press Sportscaster of the Year, Sportscaster of the Year by the National Association of Local Television Sportscasters, and the 1997 Excellence in Media award from the St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club.

Covering motor sports is not only part of Peterson's job, it is part of his life. As a part time racer, Pete offers an insider's perspective in his race coverage that fans love. Away from motorsports, Peterson can be seen hosting the Tony Twist Show and as a reporter for the Fox Network on National Football League broadcasts.

Peterson is active in the St. Louis community since he moved to the area in 1995. He has served as chairman for several fund-raising events for United Cerebral Palsy, The American Cancer Society, The Make-a-Wish Foundation, and The Arthritis Foundation and Charities 2000.

Peterson is married and father of three children.
