DESCRIPTION: GOODYEAR EAGLE RADIAL LEFT - D5588 RIGHT - D5604 LEFT SIDE CIRCUMFERENCE: 86.3 in. RIGHT SIDE CIRCUMFERENCE: 87.4 in. NOTES AND QUOTES:

The Goodyear Eagle Radial tires being supplied for this weekend’s NASCAR Busch Grand National Series FIRST UNION 200 at Nazareth Speedway are the same tires used in the 1997 event.

“We were extremely pleased with the performance of the Goodyear tires during the 1997 Nazareth Speedway event,” said Tony Freund, lead engineer for stock cars. “As a result, we are bringing back the exact same tire for the 1998 race.

“Nazareth Speedway is a track were handling is key,” Freund continued. “With very short straights, the track configuration dictates the cars turn almost continuously but the surface is very tire-friendly. If the race were to go green the entire 200 laps, we would expect to see some teams only changing right side tires during their one fuel stop. However, if any caution periods do occur, it is likely that teams will utilize the new tires available to them under NASCAR rules.

Freund concluded by saying, “We are looking for the Corestates 200 to be a good, consistent race where tires will not be a concern.”
