Joe Gibbs Racing Offers Sponsors A Chance To "Test The Waters" Of NASCAR
CHARLOTTE, NC - (April 4, 2001) --- The Joe Gibbs NASCAR Busch Series Racing Team with Mike McLaughlin behind the wheel is looking for a sponsorship partner for the remainder of the 2001 racing season. After losing its sponsor just one month from the start of the 2001 season, the team has operated without the flashy colors of a sponsor splashed across its hood and quarter panels. After seven races McLaughlin stands in sixth place in the point standings and the team wants to share its success with a new sponsor.
With a new television contract in hand with FOX and NBC, the sport of NASCAR is growing faster than ever. Record television ratings and record attendance at the tracks have sparked interest in the sport from all types of corporations. Many new and diverse corporations have entered the sport over the last year; United Parcel Service, Nestle, Starter, Conseco, and GNC.
Joe Gibbs Racing is now offering corporations a chance to "test the waters" of NASCAR by sponsoring the # 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Busch Series team for a series of races or the remainder of the season. Along with the McLaughlin driven car, Joe Gibbs Racing owns two Winston Cup cars driven by 2000 Winston Cup Champion Bobby Labonte and Tony Stewart. Gibbs also operates a second Busch Series team driven by Jeff Purvis along with a Craftsman Truck Series team driven by Coy Gibbs. With this combination of teams, Joe Gibbs Racing can offer a custom-built sponsorship package that delivers exposure in the three top divisions of NASCAR.
Joe Gibbs Racing Vice President of Business, Dean Noble believes the team has designed an attractive package for potential sponsors.
"This is one of the best opportunities to explore racing that has come along in a long time. How many times do you get to work with a three time Super Bowl winning coach, a Winston Cup Championship team as well as a Busch team that is in the top ten in points. There appears to be a success element for everyone here."
Joe Gibbs Racing is also in a position to be able to offer a corporation the chance to amortize their 2001 costs over the next couple of years with a long term commitment to the racing team.
Noble expressed Joe Gibbs Racing's willingness to work with sponsors and their marketing budgets.
"We realize that most corporations have committed their marketing budget for this year, but we can work with them to amortize the 2001 investment with a multi-year commitment to Joe Gibbs Racing."
With the # 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Team performing among leaders week in and week out, the key missing ingredient is a sponsor to share in the success of the sport of NASCAR.
