Ex-Panther joins Advil NASCAR Team!

Charlotte, N.C. Emmanuel McDaniel, who spent his 1996 Rookie season on the Carolina Panthers roster, has joined Jay Robinson Racing of the NASCAR Busch Series.

"Can you still be considered a two sport athlete if you've retired from one sport and started another one?", jokingly asked McDaniel via a telephone interview.

McDaniel was a Cornerback who also had stints with the Colts, Cardinals, Giants and Dolphins in his nine year NFL career. He retired from football after spending the 2003 and 2004 season with the Cardinals.

"The past year has been tough, since I've played football my whole life. There have been some different venues of business I could have gone into, but nothing seemed to inspire me like this opportunity did. Conditioning and competition are what I'm accustomed to, so I'm thankful Jay gave me this chance with the #49 Advil Xtreme Ford Fusion racing team."

McDaniel will serve as a tire carrier on the #49 Advil/Xtreme pit crew and have duties in the shop.

"He's a guy that is in great physical condition following a successful NFL career", said Robinson. "But he also is a great guy to be around and he's really impressed everybody in the shop with his attitude and willingness to learn". Having pit crew people in top physical condition is ever more important in today's world of racing. " When you have sponsors spending in the millions, every second is vital. We feel having the top athletes on our pit crew gives us a better chance of that great finish".
