MARK GREEN -55- Davis & Weight Motorsports Ford Taurus (Finished 41st)

WHAT HAPPENED?

"I messed the primary car up on Thursday qualifying and had to go to the back. We were just trying to feel our way through there and try to get settled in; we were only 10 laps into the race. Todd Bodine just jacked me around coming off of (Turn) 2. I don't know what his hurry was, I had guys in front of me holding me up. I just don't know what the deal was with him. I know that they're running a limited schedule and have nothing to lose, I just hope their limited schedule includes Nashville where we go next."

ARE YOU DONE FOR THE DAY?

"Yeah. I tore up both ends, just trashed the race car. It's pretty bad when you wreck when you're racing for the lead or the win, but it's uncalled for when you're 38th or 39th."

SHANE HALL -63- Lance Snacks Ford Taurus (Finished 38th)

ARE YOU OK?

"Yeah, they took me to the care center just to check me out."

WHAT HAPPENED?

"We were a little bit snug there from the center off, we were just trying to bide our time to get to a caution flag to adjust on it. The 00 wanted to race a bit, so I let him go and was going to sneak in behind him, but the 99 car just came in there. They told me clear so I went to the bottom, and undoubtedly, she got in there on us."

DID YOU HAVE THE HANS DEVICE?

"That and the six-point harness."

DID IT IMPEDE YOUR EXIT FROM THE CAR?

"It was no problem, and that was my first accident with the six-point harness. When I hit the wall, the forward impact, you could really feel it grab you between your legs and not let you move a whole lot. I think the six-point and the HANS is a good deal."

JEFF GREEN -10- Nestle Nesquik Ford Taurus (Finished 32nd)

ON THE LAP 57 INCIDENT.

"I just lost it. I guess I didn't give the tires time enough to
come up and made a mistake. Last week was bad enough, but this makes it a
little worse. We just have to get it fixed and try to get some points."

POST-RACE COMMENTS - YOU MANAGED TO GET THE CAR BACK ON THE TRACK.

"Yeah, I'm just mad at myself. I just messed up and got after it too hard too quick and spun out, lost it. I don't know, these tires are giving me a different feel. I thought we caught up to it, we had a pretty good car, but I just wrecked it. We were just gaining points, that's all we were doing. We had an ignition problem at the end. We could have gone on, but we weren't going to gain any more points, so it wasn't worth being in that mess."

ELTON SAWYER -98- Starter/Hot Tamales Ford Taurus (Finished 21st)

A BIT OF A TOUGH DAY?

"We pitted under green, had an equalized tire, it just wasn't a very good day."

YOU HAVE A WEEK OFF BEFORE THE NEXT RACE. HOW DO YOU REGROUP?

"I don't know, we have some testing planned, so hopefully that will help."

JEFF BURTON -9- Gain Ford Taurus (Finished 2nd)

"These things are so sensitive to air. You can catch a guy, you can be a lot faster but you can't pass him because you lose the air. This was a good day for the Gain Taurus. I'm proud of my guys, we had good pit stops, it was a good race. We were the only guys that had a chance to beat the 2. If we were in front of him we would have beat him, he was in front of us so he beat us."

KELLY DENTON -77- PRW Racing Ford Taurus (Finished 28th)

WHAT HAPPENED?

"We didn't have any bite all day. It was pushing a whole bunch, and I came off that corner and it jumped real loose. I don't know if we got into oil or what. It's kind of ironic, we were pushing all day and then we just lost it at the end."

YOU TRIED TO SAVE IT.

"I kinda got lost, where I was at. Smoke went in the car and I couldn't see where I was going and got to spinning and tried to keep it out of the wall. We went in the wall"

JASON KELLER -57- Albertsons Ford Taurus (Finished 24th)

YOU HAD SOME BAD LUCK EARLY.

"We just struggled all day. This happened early and what can you do? We tried to finish as high as we could and gain a couple of points, so maybe we're not too bad."

I THINK YOU'RE STILL IN SECOND.

"But, it's getting a distant second. We don't need to let him get up there and in front of us. The biggest thing is not knowing how good our car was. We'll never know now."

KEVIN LEPAGE -71- State Fair Mini Corn Dogs Ford Taurus (Finished 10th)

YOU MANAGED TO STAY ON THE LEAD LAP.

"I can't say enough for all the guys on the State Fair team. We dug them a whole by starting in the back, but we worked our way up through 10th and then the side window fell off of the car and had to go to the back of the line. We were in the back of the pack and worked our way up through the field. To get a top 10, I'm happy with that. It's something to build on now."

DID THE CLOUD COVER CHANGE THE TRACK CONDITIONS?

"We got real tight once the clouds came in. We were real good early on, but with the last two sets of tires, we were too tight. We kept adjusting and adjusting, we just ran out of time."

IS IT NICE NOT HAVING TO RUN TO A CUP CAR FOR HAPPY HOUR PRACTICE AFTER A BUSCH RACE?

"Yeah, but I've got a setup here I want to try tomorrow, so we'll see what happens."

RYAN NEWMAN -02- ALLTEL Ford Taurus (Finished 14th)

YOU HAD TO RACE YOUR BACK-UP CAR, BUT YOU STILL FINISHED IN THE TOP 15.

"We just kept tuning and tuning all day. It started off really, really loose, something didn't feel right in the car. It was a back-up car and we made some changes after Happy Hour. We were really good in Happy Hour, but we wanted to make some changes because we knew the track was going to change. I think something happened kind of screwy because it was pretty much loose all day and we kept tightening it up the whole time. We'll take it apart when we get home and find out what happened."

GREG BIFFLE -60- Grainger Ford Taurus (Finished 7th)

A TOUGH START, BUT A SOLID FINISH.

"Yeah, it hurt the right side of it, but I don't know how much if affected the way it drove, but it wasn't good all day. There was nothing we could do. It was loose-tight down in and then it wouldn't turn and then it was too free leaving. It was just a handful. It wasn't balanced right, we didn't have the right springs and shocks in it. We just drove with what we had and did the best we could."

DO YOU LEAVE HERE WITH ANY GOOD NOTES?

"Definitely. We've definitely got some notes for next year, and we know what not to run."

WHAT DID YOU SEE ON THE LAP 57 INCIDENT?

"I don't know if the 10 car wrecked by himself, I don't know what happened there. But, the 10 got turned around, the 17 ran into him, somebody ran into the back of me, the 17 spun and came down into the side of me and sent me through the grass. I was just a victim of circumstance two weeks in a row. It's frustrating, I thought we had a good car, but we'll just come back at Nashville and see how good we can do."
