Thoughts on The Auto Club 300:
"It's going to be great to get to a track like California this weekend. After the Bristol race and the Talladega race, it will be exciting to get to a track where I have a little bit more control. At Bristol, cars are bouncing off one another and at Talladega, you ride around waiting on the big crash to end your day. Hopefully here at California Speedway, we will be able to race our Goulds Pumps Chevrolet to the front and grab a big win."
OUCH! Mike McLaughlin was officially diagnosed with a fractured right hand on Monday. After injuring the hand in a crash at Bristol, x-rays proved negative, but more pain developed over the next ten days. While in Talladega, McLaughlin spent time with ABC's Dr. Jerry Punch. Punch recommended McLaughlin make another visit to the doctor's office. On Monday, doctors at the Charlotte Orthopedic Clinic diagnosed a broken hand. McLaughlin has the hand in a soft cast and will race this weekend with a protective pad.
The injury will prevent McLaughlin from participating in the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America that begins on Monday. McLaughlin's Harley Davidson had already been shipped to California for the start of the ride.
