KENNY WALLACE AT CALIFORNIA
This will be Wallace's fifth start at California Speedway. During his Busch career, Wallace has had no poles, no top-fives and one top-10 finish. He has completed 87 percent of the laps and accrued close to $100,000 in winnings. His best finish was ninth in 2004 which occurred during last year's May race.
LAST YEAR AT CALIFORNIA... Stater Bros. 300 presented by Gatorade
MAY 1, 2004-- Fresh off the best finish so far in the 2004 season the Stacker 2 Team had confidence heading into California. After qualifying sixth for the race, Wallace knew he had a strong car. Despite handling a loose race car most of the day, Wallace was able to keep the race car running near the front of the field all day. Near the end of the race, the Stacker 2 team knew it had to pit one last time. This efficient pit stop enabled Wallace to finish ninth.
KENNY WALLACE ON CALIFORNIA ...
"I am glad Daytona is behind us, we had a really good car but unfortunately we blew a tire the lap before we were scheduled to pit. It's time to move on now and focus all of our attention on the upcoming race in California.
"I really like racing at California, the track looked beautiful during testing. You can go three wide into the corner and race hard all day long."
CREW CHIEF WAS WARD ON CALIFORNIA TESTING...
"The test went real good. Basically, we're just trying to learn Kenny. We were pretty close with both cars when we showed up, but we're just trying to learn what he wants, what he likes, being that this is our first year with him. We're pretty happy. Kenny's happy, and we're excited about what the future might bring."
