2002 NASCAR Busch series champion Greg Biffle took the checkers in the Target House 300 at the California Speedway. The Washington Native backed up his spring win at the track to sweep both races of the 2004 season.

Biffle won in dramatic fashion, as he and fellow Nextel Cup competitor Casey Mears feverishly battled each other in the closing laps of the race with Biffle claiming his fifth win of the season.

"He was a lot stronger than me on the straights, but I could loosen him up in the corners ", said Biffle referring to Mears.

"He had trouble putting the gas down in the corner. Once I could break that draft and get about six car lengths, I could get away from him."

For his part, Mears indicated that he enjoyed the close competition.

Finishing behind the top two were Kevin Harvick, Kasey Khane, and Jamie McMurray, making it a top five sweep for double duty Cup Drivers.

In the championship hunt, points leader Martin Truex Jr finished sixth, three positions ahead of Kyle Busch widening his margin to ninety-five points with nine races remaining.

Next week the series heads to Richmond to race under the lights in the Emerson Radio 250.
