WHAT WERE YOU THINKING AT THE END? "We were just holding on. At the start of the race we fell all the way back to 24th -- we were making a lot of changes on the car. To be honest with everybody, we were just terrible. But the Albertson's team put their heads together and Steve did a great job. They got us really a good race car, a solid top 10. Fuel mileage helped us out there a little bit at the end, so it's cool when you've got Robert Yates horsepower and fuel mileage -- it worked out good."
WHAT ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE? "Well, we just need to take bad weeks and make them top fives and top 10s. It very easily could have been a 20th-place today and we finished fifth, so that's a smart race team."
SCOTT RIGGS --10-- Nesquik Taurus
WHAT ABOUT THAT LAST RESTART?
"Man, I knew Jeff was gonna be awful strong there and I just wanted to get a good start, but with that Robert Yates horsepower under the wheels, man, it licked the wheels up hard. I had to try to just pedal the gas and try to get the 'quik spinning there and shoved third. Jeff gave me room on the outside and I knew if he didn't get by me before I got to turn one down there, I thought I'd be able to hold him off. I drove it in pretty hard and jumped back on the gas pretty hard to try and get my momentum going. Everybody just did a great job on the Nesquik Ford Taurus -- great horsepower with Robert Yates, great crew chief, great calls and a great team making up positions. Every time we stopped today we made up three or four positions in the pits. At the end of that first run it started coming to me and started getting a little tighter and getting better. Harold said, 'That's where we need to be. We need to be a little free at first so we can work our way into the track' because we knew the track was gonna get tighter. Everybody drove a great race. I've got to thank all the guys behind me. Everybody I raced against raced awfully hard, but everybody raced me awfully clean." WERE THERE ANY WORRIES WITH THE RED FLAG? "Oh yeah, I was worried about gas. These Robert Yates engines make horsepower, they don't make gas mileage."
