Race Team Hires Two Interns

MOORESVILLE, NC-- FitzBradshaw Racing has grown from a one-car team to an operation that fields two, full-time cars and one, part-time car in the NASCAR Busch Series. In addition to growing its on-track visibility, the race team is also working to enhance its diversity outreach initiatives as well as support NASCAR's 'Drive for Diversity' campaign.

Team co-owner Armando Fitz, a Hispanic, has always noted the importance of recognizing different cultures and ethnicity and the importance of creating an operation that reflects such sentiments.

"We are in the marketing business and it is quite evident that the United States is comprised of many people from all walks of life," noted Fitz. Additionally, with NASCAR's rise as a national sport and the tremendous amount of coverage the sport receives on national television, it is apparent that there is a need to reach all pockets of the population. Terry (Bradshaw) and I are excited about our company's efforts to showcase the team's diversity push."

FitzBradshaw's initial diversity outreach program will include the hiring of two interns who will work in the team's day-to-day front office and with the on-track performance operations. The duo begins work on June 3, 2004.

Stacey Sowell is a first-year graduate student majoring in English at North Carolina A&T University. Sowell will focus the majority of her attention on team travel and sponsor relations.

Michael Walker is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Virginia. Walker will aid the team in car set-ups and on track performance.

FitzBradshaw's sponsors are also enlightened by the race team's push to focus on diversity integration.

"The Navy is proud of its commitment to diversity and we feel strongly that our superb readiness today is the DIRECT result of the time and attention we have devoted to improving it," said Rear Admiral Jeffrey Fowler, Commander, Navy Recruiting Command. "We appreciate FitzBradshaw's efforts to support the 'Drive for Diversity' program because diversity is not just about looking like America. It's about finding the BEST America has to offer."

FitzBradshaw Racing is owned by NASCAR veteran Armando Fitz and Pro Football Hall of Fame member and FOX broadcaster Terry Bradshaw. The team fields three cars in the NASCAR Busch Series: the No. 12 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, sponsored by Supercuts, Hot Tamales, and Bicycle Playing Cards; the No. 14 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, sponsored by the Navy; and the No. 82 Chevrolet Monte Carlo sponsored by Jani-King and Goulds Pumps.

FitzBradshaw Racing will be featured all season long on the SPEED Channel reality show NBS 24/7. The show airs every Monday night at 8:00 pm and re-airs Mondays at 1:00 a.m., Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
