BUSCH: Dover Team Amick Notes

#35 SCANA/POWERTEL RACE TEAM ELLIOTT SADLER Notes and Quotes Race 27 of 32- NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division September 25, 1999-Race time-Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, broadcast on TNN and MRN

· Elliott Sadler and crew chief Sandy Jones seem to have rekindled the magic the two shared during their years together at Diamond Ridge Motorsports. In only the second race since Jones took over as Team Amick's crew chief, the two men helped lead Team Amick to only its third top-10 finish of the season, and the first since California. · His sixth-place finish last week in the Autolite Platinum 250 was Elliott Sadler's first top-10 ever at the Richmond International Raceway. · Sadler has competed in 14 Busch Series events this season. In ten of those races, he drove as a substitute for Andy Santerre in the No. 47 entry when Santerre was sidelined with a broken leg during the first race of the season. · Plans call for Sadler to drive the No. 35 in all the remaining races on the Busch Series schedule in 1999. Elliott Sadler, Driver: On Dover Downs Raceway: "I've always enjoyed racing at Dover in a Busch car. I'm even more excited about heading there after the run we had at Richmond. We're going to take that momentum into Dover and pound out another strong finish." On changing priorities: "We're working better as a team and concentrating on our race setups. In Darlington, we concentrated on qualifying (Sadler qualified fourth there) and when the race came, we just didn't have the setup we needed. In Richmond, we focused on our race setup and it paid off. That's what we're going to do for the rest of the year. We want a good starting spot, but a good race setup is more important. Once you make it through qualifying, which is tough to do when 60 cars are trying for 43 spots, you have to have a strong racecar to run up front. We know the cars are capable of running in the front, it's just a matter of having them ready and in the best possible condition for racing." Sandy Jones, Crew Chief: On the need for a week off after Richmond : "We needed the week off to not only enjoy the success at Richmond, but also to give us some time to get more cars ready. We're going to bring out some new cars at a few of the upcoming races, and we're getting a few ready for upcoming test dates. We needed every spare minute we got by not having a race last weekend. On Dover Downs International Speedway: "Dover's one of those tracks that it's hard to get a handle on. Elliott and I have had some success here, but we've also struggled sometimes. We definitely have run into problems qualifying well here."
