"I really don't know why it slowed down so much. I don't know if the track has gotten hotter because the sun is out and we practiced this morning when it was pretty early and pretty cool. Hopefully, the track just slowed down. This is two weeks in a row that we've been the first one out so we'll just have to sit back and wait."
HOW BIG OF A DISADVANTAGE IS BEING THE FIRST QUALIFIER?
"I would have rather seen a few cars go out and see what the tendency was and have my teammate go out and see what the tendency was, what he had to say, and then get some feedback before we ran because we could use some air pressure adjustments to try and help it. It's a little bit of a disadvantage but hopefully we'll be somewhere in the top-five and have a good starting spot."
CASEY MEARS, NO. 66 PHILLIPS 66 DODGE, QUALIFIED 12TH
"I think I pretty much got everything out of it that time. From practice to qualifying, the track just lost a little bit of grip. The car was doing the same thing it was in practice; it was just more of it. I think we're pretty happy, considering that I hadn't even seen the track until yesterday. We didn't test or do anything so I'm pretty happy with where we're at now. Hopefully we can just have a good solid race. That's what we've been lacking this year. We've had some good performances. We've ran in the top-10 and the top-five at places. We just haven't brought it home for one reason or another. Hopefully we can have a good clean race tomorrow and have good clean stops."
KASEY KAHNE, NO 98 CHANNELLOCK FORD, QUALIFIED 13TH.
"I like the track a lot; it's a lot of fun. The car was good. I got a little tight off coming to the white flag so that kind of hurt my second lap a little bit. That's the best lap that we've run so far today."
CAN YOU COMPARE DOVER TO BRISTOL, WHERE YOU HAD A GOOD RUN EARLIER THIS YEAR?
"I guess the concrete. So far we're a lot better here than we were at Bristol so I like this place a lot better."
