McFarland and Navy Team set to tackle the "Monster Mile"

Dover Notes

* On Saturday, NASCAR Busch Series driver Mark McFarland will drive the JR Motorsports No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in the StonebridgeRacing.com 200 at Dover International Speedway.

* Saturday's race will mark McFarland's second Busch race at Dover International Speedway and his third overall race there. In 2004 he ran both the Spring Busch and Truck Series races at the track.

* McFarland will sign autographs at the Motorsports Authentics' Busch Series souvenir hauler from 3:30--4 p.m. on Friday.

* The team is bringing chassis No. 18 to the Dover this week. The car was last raced at Darlington Raceway in May. McFarland started that race from 28th position and finished 18th in his first attempt at the track "too tough to tame."

* McFarland is currently ranked 19th in the Busch Series driver standings, 225 points out of 10th. He is also ranked fourth in the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year standings, 20 points out of first.

* McFarland and the JR Motorsports team picked up their best-ever finish of seventh last month at Talladega Superspeedway. The run also marked the team and driver's first-ever top 10 as well.

Mark McFarland, Driver of No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

"I ran pretty decent in the Busch race at Dover a couple years ago. It'll be good to get back to a track where I have some seat time. With the limits on testing this year, experience on the track is more important than ever. That's one of the problems we've had this year as a rookie team with a rookie driver. We've still had some good runs and I think as we move through the season and go back to some of the tracks we've already run at we'll be even better."

Rich Hubbs, Crew Chief of No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

"Dover is an extremely tough track to get around. It's really easy for a driver to get caught up in someone else's misfortune there. Qualifying is pretty important because track position is key, as is picking a good pit stall since pit road can be tricky if we have to come in under green-flag conditions. Mark has raced there before and that should help us some since we won't have to spend part of the practice session getting him familiarized with the track and the right line to run."

Navy Notables

* The fleet honoree for Saturday's race at Dover International Speedway is the VR-52 Taskmasters.
