Charlotte, NC (May 29th, 2003) - - Jay Robinson Racing heads to Dover Delaware this weekend hoping to score their best finishes of the 20003 season in the NASCAR Busch Series. The team has had it's shares of ups and down so far, with some accidents, mechanical failures, and failing to make races. However, the team vows that they will not give up and working hard towards a good weekend of racing.
The team heads to the "Monster Mile" after a solid weekend at Nazareth. All three entries (39 Chris Bingham, 49 Jason White, and 89 Shane Hall) were able to make the field on time. Chris and Jason were able to improve on their qualifying efforts and finish in the top 30. Shane Hall, who had the best qualifying effort of the season so far for the team (17th) fell out early with engine failure and was credited with a 43rd place finish.
"We've had our fair share of misfortunate this year," said car owner Jay Robinson. "On the other hand there were times this season where we left the track all smiles, it's just a part of the game", he said.
While Chris Bingham and Brad Baker were in the JRR entries last weekend, Robinson has decided to put Derrike Cope in the No. 49 and BGN rookie Jason White in the No. 39. "Both Derrike and Jason are incredible race car drivers, I know that both of them will give 150% behind the wheel."
Cope will be piloting his third entry for the team this season, as he has already competed on the Superspeedways of Daytona and Talladega pulling off impressive performances in both events. For Dover, Cope will once again be piloting the No. 49 Ford Taurus with backing from Fans Motorsports.com and Choice Marketing.
"I'm excited about returning to the wheel at Jay Robinson Racing, I am only hoping that we can improve on our two runs with the team earlier this season."
It will be a busy weekend for the former Daytona 500 champion as Cope will also prepare to run in Sunday's NASCAR Winston Cup Series MBNA Armed Forces 400 in his No. 37 Quest Moto rsports Chevrolet.
Virginia native Jason White will be taking the wheel of a Jay Robinson Racing entry for the fifth time this season.
Jason, a former competitor in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will have Three Stooges Beer on the hood of his No. 39 Ford. "I am excited about heading to Dover, I think if we keep our nose clean we will walk away from the track with a good finish", he said. The former late model racer also noted "I have to thank the folks over at Three Stooges Beer for once again sponsoring us this weekend, in the end I hope we have a good weekend for them."
White has raced in seven NASCAR Busch Series races this season with a best qualifying effort of 28th at Darlington, (Jay Robinson Racing No. 39) and has collected a best finish of 21st at Nashville (Eagle Jet Motorsports No. 01)
The team is still looking for a product deal to fill in as the primary sponsor for the team's Busch Series effort for the remainder of the season. Jay Robinson has the ability to sell the product through his wholesale company. JRR would like to align themselves with a company that can take advantage of giving product instead of cash.
