Brian Vickers in the no. 40 EMP Dodge was the highest qualifying Raybestos® Rookie at Dover. Vickers will start fourth in Saturday's race and took top qualifying rookie honors for the second time this season. He was also the top qualifying rookie at Charlotte in May where he started eighth.
"It was a heck of a lap. That's the most fun I've had in quite a while. We've got a couple of new guys on the team. I'm really happy with the new guys. They've all got a really good attitude and that means a lot to me and to the rest of the guys. It keeps them up. I'm happy with it and I'm having fun. We had a pretty good run there and we're going to see if we can't take this EMP Dodge to the front in the race."
YOU WERE VERY CONSISTENT FROM PRACTICE TO QUALIFYING.
"In practice we ran a .14 and when we went out to make our sticker run somebody put oil down the racetrack and we didn't get to make a sticker run. I don't know where we would have been in practice. To me the track did slow up a little bit but like I said I don't know where we were on our sticker run in practice. Even the run where we ran that .14 we were passing somebody. I think the track did slow up a little but I'm happy with it."
HOW BIG IS THIS GOOD RUN FOR YOUR TEAM?
"Hopefully we can do it in 'Happy Hour' and come back again and do it in the race tomorrow. It means a lot to the guys. We had some horrible luck at Richmond. Right before we went out (to qualify) somebody oiled the track down. It's just a new group of guys and it's a good spirit. I think it means a lot to them."
