SCOTT RIGGS-10-Nestle Toll House Ford Taurus (Finished 3rd)
WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN YOU AND THE NO. 37 CAR? "It was my fault. I just got into David (Green) there. I got into the corner and he was struggling pretty good through the center and I hated to get into the back of him there. I tried to save it, but I hate it. That was definitely my fault. I don't know if he checked up or just got a little loose and had to catch or what, but I got into the back of him just ever so slightly, and it doesn't take much. That's just my fault, and my apology to him because I sure didn't mean to get into him."
HOW WAS THE REST OF YOUR DAY? "The car was pretty good. I have to thank everybody on the Nestle Toll House car today. They did a good job, and all of the guys did a good job preparing this car. I just hate leading so many laps and having such a good car there, and at the very end, that last set of tires we put on, I don't know why but it got way too tight. It got a lot tighter and had a pretty big swing in the handling of the race car. We'll take this and move on to the next race."
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE NEW RULE NOT TO RACE BACK TO THE CAUTION FLAG? "We didn't have any part of it today as far as affecting us in any way. I think it's a good thing that NASCAR wants to make the sport more safe. Any time you're looking out for the safety of the drivers and the teams, that's what it's all about."
JASON KELLER-57-Albertsons Ford Taurus (Finished 8th)
"The only disappointing thing today is that we came here and tested and we felt like we were going to be pretty good. Just at the start, we didn't have the car exactly right and we just didn't have any time to catch up. We made the car a lot better, and got it real racy towards the middle part and the end. It started out a little too loose and we thought the race track would go a certain way and it didn't quite go all the way."
WERE YOU AWARE THAT YOU WOULDN'T BE ALLOWED BACK ON THE LEAD LAP WHEN THE FINAL CAUTION FLAG WAVED WITHIN 10 LAPS OF THE END OF THE RACE? "They told us with 10 to got that they wouldn't put a car on the lad lap. Naturally, I would have loved to have gotten back on the lead lap, and that's what we're racing for, but we knew that rule coming in."
KASEY KAHNE-38-Great Clips Ford Taurus (Finished 4th)
"We started off that last run and it was tight, but on that last restart when we went back to green it got loose getting in. It was still a great run for the Great Clips team. They did an awesome job in the pits. We had a good points day and we keep getting better, so we still have to keep working. We've got some more points and we need to keep the car in the top 10 in points. I think we had a little bit better shock package this time around. It was just better off."
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE NEW RULE NOT TO RACE BACK TO THE CAUTION FLAG? "For us, it for safety, so I think it's something that NASCAR needed to do and that's what they did and I think it's probably pretty good. I didn't get to see what was going on in the very front so I don't know how everyone took it, but from where I was, I thought it was a good day because nobody was trying to pass and slowly coming back to the yellow. It cuts down on a lot of wrecks probably."
BOBBY HAMILTON, JR.-25-Team Marines Ford Taurus (Finished 2nd)
TALK ABOUT THE FINAL RESTART. "That restart went through my mind a million times whether I do it or not do it. I got to him and he's racing for the championship and we're not, but we are, and if I'm not mistaken he probably took the points lead. As good as this car runs, I didn't have to just push him out of the way to win; I can do it just by plain passing him, and today he beat us."
DID THE TRACK GAIN GRIP AS THE RACE PROGRESSED? "No, it just got worse and worse as far as the front. That's why Harold (Holly) is the champion that he is because he keeps adjusting on the car. We got second place and that's another good points day."
DID YOU HAVE THOUGHTS OF WRECKING VICKERS ON THE RESTART? "Last week, the guy did what he had to do, but I didn't want to win it like that. He deserved it. He dominated all day long, him and the 10. They were the class and we just got lucky with the cautions. We're taking chances now to put our team in the championship race at the end of the year. We're doing what we do to train ourselves to win championship."
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE NEW RULE NOT TO RACE BACK TO THE CAUTION FLAG? "That's what we needed. After they announced it and Mike Helton explained it, as soon as the caution came out it was the safest that I've ever felt."
