Hermie Sadler Hopes To Master The Monster Mile
Dover, Delaware - - After a dismal 41st place finish last Saturday afternoon at Lowes Motor Speedway due to engine failure, veteran NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler looks to master the "Monster Mile" at Dover Downs International Speedway and score their first and much wanted top-ten finish of the '04 NBS season.
Last weekend, Sadler boasted to his SCORE Motorsports crew that he was driving the best racecar of the season in the Carquest Auto Parts 300. He proved it by blasting his way from his 40th place starting position to lock 22nd when the engine seized, ending a potential top-ten finish.
Heading into Dover this weekend, Sadler has a whopping 15 career starts at the one-mile oval. Hermie has a career best start of fifth, which occurred in 1995, while motoring a career best finish of second in the same 1995 spring event. The Emporia, Virginia native would like to excel past that runner's up position nearly ten years ago with his third NASCAR Busch Series victory of his career, Saturday afternoon.
"Hermie knows his way around Dover Downs," said FanZCar Co-Founder Eric Say. "We've have had some solid runs this season, but a lot of bad luck in-between hopefully we'll beat the monster this weekend with a good run."
The SCORE Motorsports team will invade the track this weekend, looking for their first top-ten finish of the season. The team has obviously had a few obstacles this season, but as the season has progressed the team continues to learn, and everyone feels it's just a matter of time before the team begins to make some serious noise.
While currently occupying the 25th place in the NASCAR Busch Series standings, a good run on Saturday afternoon would allow the team to make a considerable gain in the race for the championship.
The team will arrive this weekend without the support of a primary sponsor. The SCORE crew hopes to have an impressive weekend, with hopes of attracting a sponsor that will join the No. 02 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the remainder of the 2004 NASCAR Busch Series season.
However, The FanZCar, Zapf Creation, and Jenkins & Jenkins Law Firm will join the No. 02 machine as associate sponsors this weekend.
Steve Ward, David Maruca, Amy Shellehamer, Ronnie Culler, Colleen Pine, and Edward Pine will have a huge weekend ahead of them. These members will be at Dover representing The FanZCar and cheering on Hermie Sadler.
Rolling into the "Monster Mile" Sadler has 239 NASCAR Busch Series starts to his record, 2 wins, 18 top-fives, 44 top-tens, three poles, and has achieved $2,404,694 in career earnings.
The MBNA America 200 is the 14th of 34 events on the 2004 NASCAR Busch Series schedule. Practice and qualifying are on the agenda this Friday, June 4th with the race set to take the green flag Saturday, June 5th. FX will air the event live beginning at 1:00 PM EST, with MRN handling the airwaves starting at 1:00 PM EST. The race will also be available via XM radio channel 144 starting at 1:00pm
