Notes & Quotes

The Equipment... "Gambler" is the car the Phillips 66 team will compete with this weekend in the "MBNA Platinum 200" at Dover Downs International Speedway. "Gambler" is the same car the Phillips 66 team raced at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this season.

Casey Mears' Thoughts On Last Weekend's Race At Lowe's Motor Speedway...

"I had a blast, probably the most fun I've had in a race so far this year because we were competitive. We really had a good car and I was impressed with how well it handled. During the race we made up ground right from the green flag, and we had a great first pit stop, which allowed us to gain quite a few spots. We worked our way all the way into 12th and then during our second pit stop we had some problems. We've had some good runs this season, but just haven't been able to finish them off."

Casey Mears' Thoughts On Dover Downs International Speedway...

"I've never been to Dover before, never even tested there, but we'll treat Dover just like it's Dover. I've heard Dover is a tricky track and takes a little time to learn. We'll just have to see when we get there. Hopefully we can apply some of the things we've learned from running on the concrete surfaces of Bristol and Nashville."

Crew Chief Donnie Richeson's Thoughts On Dover...

"We will run a setup very close to the one we ran at Bristol in March. Basically we will make a few changes with the shock package compared to Bristol, but that's about it. Shocks are important at Dover because of the way the track was built. The concrete was laid down in sections and there are a lot of seams (bumps) between the sections that you must deal with. As the tires build pressure and the shocks get hotter, the ride of the car gets to be pretty harsh. You need to be able to have a car that does not get too harsh at the end of a run."

Happy Birthday...

Phillips 66 team member Bruce Cook will celebrate his birthday on Sunday, June 2. The Point Pleasant, N.J., native works as the car chief for the No. 66 Dodge and is the rear tire carrier on race day.
