OVERHEATING ENDS SHANE HMIEL'S DRIVE FOR A WIN AT DAYTONA

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Feb. 19, 2005) -- Shane Hmiel's day started strong in the WINFUEL Chevrolet, but it ended early when the engine overheated due to a leak in the radiator.

"I guess we blew a hole in the radiator and it overheated," Hmiel said after parking the car on lap 75. "We have a pressurized water system, and all of a sudden the motor started getting hot. We tried to cool it down under the caution, but then it went back green and we had to run it and see if we could get another quick caution to work on it more."

The WINFUEL Chevrolet started the "Hershey's TAKE 5 300" in the thirteenth position, and Hmiel battled in the top-ten most of the day with the leaders. "It's unfortunate because we were running in the top-15 all day," Hmiel said. "But Martin Truex, Jr. didn't finish the race here last year, and then he went on to win the championship and six or seven races. Now we're going to try to do the same thing."

Shane Hmiel and the Braun Racing team will continue the quest for their first win of the 2005 season next Saturday, February 26 at the California Speedway. LIVE television coverage starts on FX at 5:30 p.m. EST. In the meantime, tune into NBS 24/7 Monday night at 9:30 p.m. EST to see what really happened to the Braun Racing team behind the scenes at Daytona.
