Notes & Quotes
The Equipment... The Phillips 66 team will compete with "Blackjack" this weekend at Daytona International Speedway. "Blackjack" made its last appearance at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing fifth. The same car also ran at Daytona in February.
Consistency... Casey Mears and the Phillips 66 team scored their third top-20 finish in their last four starts with their 19th-place performance at The Milwaukee Mile last weekend.
A Little Bit Of Racing Fun... Casey Mears was able to fend off his teammate Hank Parker, Jr. in a wild NASCAR Celebrity Grudge Match last Tuesday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Mears passed Parker on the last lap of the race to claim the victory.
Casey Mears' Thoughts On The Race At Daytona In February... "Early on in the race we struggled a little, but I was proud of the way the team and I gelled and progressed throughout the race. It seemed like we were headed for a top-10 finish, but it was not meant to be. I was pleased with the overall performance at Daytona in February, but obviously disappointed in how it ended."
Casey Mears' Thoughts On Superspeedway Races... "I always want to go faster and faster. The faster the better. The sheer speed involved is why I like racing. I know we're required to run restrictor plates at Daytona and Talladega, but at the end of the day I'd like to have all of the horsepower I can get my hands on underneath me."
