DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 15, 2000) NASCAR officials announced today they have penalized NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division crew chief David Lackey and car owner Ken Alexander for rules violations discovered prior to qualifying for last Friday's Hardee's 250 at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Va.

Lackey, crew chief of the No. 03 Chevrolet, was suspended from NASCAR until June 7 and penalized under Section 12-4-A in the NASCAR Busch Series Rule Book: "...actions deemed by NASCAR Officials as detrimental to stock car racing...," Section 8-8: "...fuel used by a competitor that does not meet NASCAR specifications..." and Section 12-4-AA: "...the use of altered fuel or fuel other than the official fuel at the Event..."

Alexander, owner of the No. 03 Chevrolet, was fined $10,000 and penalized under Section 12-4-A, Section 8-8 and Section 12-4-AA. Additionally, Alexander lost six NASCAR Busch Series owners points for the 2000 season.
