Robert Pressley Quotes
On Darlington: "There's no secret about racing at Darlington. You have to save your tires, keep your car from bouncing off the wall and then, and only then, do you race against the other competitors. Darlington is one racetrack where you have to race against the track and not against other drivers. Everyone will have their hands full, especially with the new SAFER walls cutting 30 inches off the outside groove."
On the season: "Although our finishes haven't shown it, we've made tremendous improvements with our Ford Taurus. We've learned so much about the car and we've continually gotten better. With a little racing luck, I think we're good enough to start running in the top 10 and contending for victories. We faced a lot of work when we switched to Fords this year, and it's not going to take a crew chief like Steve Plattenberger long to figure things out. None of us, however, are going to be satisfied until we're in Victory Lane."
Crew Chief Steve Plattenberger Quote
On Darlington: "As a crew chief, no other racetrack presents a bigger challenge than Darlington. You have to make the car fast, but you have to build enough adjustability into it so you can change with the conditions. What you hope to accomplish is to find the kind of balance that allows Robert the opportunity to race hard, but save his tires. The driver who's the fastest after a 25-lap run will have a huge advantage."
