Duraflame RWI Racing Notes & Quotes: Darlington
DARLINGTON, SC (November 10, 2004)--The following are pre-race quotes and notes of interest from Jamie McMurray and Duraflame RWI Racing regarding Saturday's BI-LO 200 at Darlington Raceway.
Jamie McMurray, Driver, Duraflame RWI Racing #66 Dodge:
"Darlington is a tough old racetrack, that's for sure. You have to have a lot of respect for that place or it will eat you up in a hurry. The track has so much history behind it and that's something that I think is really cool. Legends like Cale Yarborough, David Pearson and Richard Petty have all had a lot of success there. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to but my name in the Darlington record books as well. I've had pretty good runs there in the last few Busch races and I look forward to continuing that this weekend. It felt really good to be able to win at Phoenix last weekend; I know that this car and team are totally capable of the same results. Blake Bainbridge and the guys always give me good cars, so we'll definitely give it our best shot at putting this Duraflame Dodge in victory lane."
Rusty Wallace, Team Owner:
"Darlington...Where do I start. It's a track so rich in tradition. All of the guys I looked up to growing up, like Bobby Allison and Cale Yarborough, have been so successful there. I've definitely had some good runs there in the past, a couple of second place finishes even. For some reason, I haven't quite been able to add a Darlington trophy to my collection. I think a Darlington win as a car owner would be a good place to start. Blake and his boys will have those hot rods tuned up as usual and everyone knows that Jamie McMurray will drive the wheels off of a race car. We're going to come out with guns blazing and see what happens. I have a pretty good feeling that the 66 car is going to end up in victory lane before this year is over."
