Ricky Craven: "I felt pretty good about the lap after I went through turns one and two, but I had to end up getting out of the gas in turn four. I was way overdriving it and I knew that wasn't going to get us a starting position. It was a tough weekend for the #19 team, but I commend team owner, David Ridling on his willingness to keep trying."

In the only practice session before first-round qualifying, the #19 team tried many set-up combinations to get the optimal performance from their Chevy Monte race machine. In order to be "in the hunt," driver, Ricky Craven had to get around the 1 ½ - mile track in just over 30 seconds, running at a speed of approximately 178 miles per hour. Craven had the speed down the straightaways, but seemed to lose ground, especially in turns three and four. The team made several changes including the rear-end gear, shocks and springs. At the end of the session, Craven's fastest time was just over 31 seconds. Craven was able to improve his lap time during first-round qualifying to 30.984, but it wouldn't be enough to lock in a top-25 starting position. The team would get another practice session Friday morning before trying to re-qualify Friday afternoon. The team received assistance from many in the garage area including Mike Skinner and Andy Petree Racing, T&L and Fisher Motors. The team put in a Fisher motor before practice, but unfortunately faced the same challenges. Craven was unable to record a lap that would break into the top 36. With only two laps remaining in the race, Joe Nemechek ran out of fuel, relinquishing the top spot to Matt Kenseth who would win the race. The next event for the #19 Yellow/Pameco team will be November 4 at Phoenix International Raceway.
