Fountain, Colo. (June 14, 2002) - Pikes Peak International Raceway today announced that NetZero, a leading value-priced Internet service provider, has become the primary sponsor of its NASCAR Busch Series race on July 26-27. The event will be known as the NetZero 250 NASCAR Busch Series race.
"NetZero has clearly defined itself as a leading value-priced Internet service provider and has earned a reputation for being one of the best sponsors in the NASCAR Busch Series with their sponsorship of points leader Jack Sprague," said PPIR Vice President of Sales Brian Jones. "NetZero is a committed marketing partner with PPIR and has several internet-driven initiatives that will promote the race and post-race comedy routine by Jeff Foxworthy. We plan to turn the new relationship into a long-time partnership."
In addition to sponsorship of PPIR's event, NetZero is the primary sponsor of the No. 24 Chevrolet Busch Series car driven by current NASCAR Busch Series points leader Jack Sprague.
"The sponsorship of the NetZero 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway is just another way to enhance our NASCAR Busch Series marketing and sponsorship initiatives," stated Brian Woods, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for NetZero. "We've had great success with Jack on the track winning the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship last season and winning a race and leading the points in the Busch Series this year. Events like the NetZero 250 at PPIR allow us to connect with NASCAR fans everywhere."
Located in Fountain, Colo., Pikes Peak International Raceway features four major race weekends in 2002. On May 18-19, PPIR hosted the Rocky Mountain 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 200 presented by Dodge Weekend. The Cruise America AMA Superbikes Weekend took place May 31, June 1 and June 2. The Indy Racing League returns to PPIR on June 15-16 with the running of the Radisson Indy 225. July 26-27 marks the return of the NASCAR Busch Series with the running of the NetZero 250 and a post-race concert by comedian and Tonight Show regular Jeff Foxworthy.
