Busch Series Points Standings: Reed Sorenson dropped one spot to third in the NASCAR Busch Series championship points standings after finishing 20th last week at Daytona. He is only 94 points behind leader Martin Truex Jr., and just 23 points behind second-place Clint Bowyer.
Rookie of the Year: Sorenson remains in the top spot in the rookie of the year race, he is nine points ahead of Carl Edwards (241-232). The rookie points are determined by the top-16 finishes during the season.
Chassis: The Discount Tire team will race chassis #555 at Chicago this weekend. This is the same car that Sorenson piloted to fifth, third and sixth-place finishes at Charlotte, Texas and Las Vegas respectively.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame: Sorenson, along with several other NASCAR drivers and television personalities, will be playing in the "Racin' The Bases" charity softball game this Thursday in Chicago. The game will be played at Silver Cross Field, home of the Joliet Jackhammers, the minor league baseball field in Joliet. Sorenson will be signing autographs before the game from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. A lottery system will determine the autograph session.
Reed Sorenson Quotes:
"I am glad to be done with restrictor-plate racing. We can focus on the kind of racing that we can control. The Discount Tire team is hoping to regroup this weekend in Chicago and get a solid top 10 finish and keep working toward the top spot in the points standings. The car we are taking to Chicago is one of our most successful ones. We have had three top-10 finishes and hope to add one more this weekend at Chicagoland."
