"The race was great. We got our first win for Ameriquest and for our 60 team this season, our first win for Pierre Kuettel, the new crew chief. It was a lot of fun. I had some great battles with a lot of guys. We dodged some wrecks. Casey Mears and I had a great race going there at the end and on that restart I knew it was gonna be a fight to the end and I hate it that he ran out of gas. I think we would have had a heck of a race if that wouldn't have happened, but it was a lot of fun. I had a good time."

"It was a lot of fun, first of all. Having to pit on that one deal where we had to put four tires and fuel on I was a little concerned we were gonna get caught up in something and we almost did. It turned out that it worked out for the best and we were able to work our way back to the front."

"This business of stock car racing is as hard as anything I've done in my life and I've done a lot of things and it's really tough. It ebbs and flows. We've had a great year in terms of building new teams in our Busch shop and building new cars that have brought some of the technology that we've learned from our Cup program and, of course, the new Ford Fusion. The rift of new sponsors, I'm just real happy to be here with Ameriquest. Looking at the race itself, I look at Charlotte as really the end of the beginning as far as the year is concerned. If we can close the deal at Charlotte, whatever has happened in the first half of the year just passes in insignificance later in the year as you think back on it. I think this will really launch us into doing what we need to do. It will put Carl back in contention with Kevin Harvick for looking at this driver championship in the Busch Series and, of course, Carl is ready to win a handful of more races in the next six I'm sure. But, anyway, we're real excited to be here. I'm just glad I haven't led Carl down so he couldn't win a race before Charlotte, and of course P.K., we've been wondering about him and I'm glad the pressure is off him as well (joking)."
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE ONE WRECK WHERE YOU ALMOST STOPPED AS IT WAS HAPPENING?
"There were a couple of wrecks. Right there at the beginning when Tony hit the wall, I haven't seen somebody hit the wall that hard I don't know for how long, and then that wreck there when Clint got into the wall and I don't know who else was there, maybe Jon Wood, just stopped and I was just praying that the guys behind me didn't hit me either. That was pretty interesting. We dodged a lot of stuff and I think that it was just our mindset and my spotter, Jason Hedlesky. He's been doing a great job and getting better and better every week. His dad is sick, so I hope his dad gets better, but we did dodge some stuff."
HOW MUCH OF A BOOST DOES THIS GIVE YOUR GROUP FOR TOMORROW AND HOW MUCH DID YOU LEARN?
"I learn the same things over and over because I keep forgetting what I learn, but Carl told me he learned some things tonight that are gonna come into play tomorrow night that will be interesting. I think there are some nooks and cranies of this new race track surface that we've got that are starting to show some potential out there. I doubt if Carl will even tell me where they are, but I think he knows where they are and he'll be planning to use them tomorrow night. We struggled with our engines tonight. We lost a couple of engines. Our engines have run really good all year and I'm real proud of them, but we'll be back to the drawing board to try and make those a little better, so certainly we're gonna learn from that. The Dodges looked really strong tonight. I think we learned that this tire is not going to be too much of a problem for itself. All the concern over the race track, was it going to be too abrasive on the tire, the tire is so hard, I think we're changing our tires every 30 laps tomorrow night with 11 gallons of gas basically for nothing. I think we'll go a full tire stop and save half the tires, but I haven't made that decision. One other thing I forgot to mention a minute ago is I'd like to dedicate my part of this victory to my mother, Georgetta, who is in a rehabilitation center from a number of problems she's got in Ripley, Ohio, but, mother, I hope you're watching this tonight and you're enjoying it, too."
WHAT DOES THIS WIN DO FOR YOUR MOMENTUM AND TELL ME THAT TOM JACKE WILL GET TO CUT HIS BEARD OFF NOW.
"I don't know. That's a deal with Gillette now. Tom and Gillette have partnered up for this beard thing. There's a little dispute whether or not he gets to shave it for the Busch wins or if he has to wait until a Cup win. It's really been hurting his dating life a lot. Seriously, he hasn't gotten one date for months, so he's a little tense to be around, but he's a little nervous around them sometimes, but hopefully he gets to get rid of it soon."
SO THERE'S SOME DISCREPANCY?
"I told him it was a Cup win, but then he worked this deal out with Gillette and they want to shave it quick. I wasn't sure which one would win first, but I think we're gonna hold out for the Cup win. I might be tomorrow, I don't know."
CAN YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC ABOUT YOUR PLAN TO TRY AND PASS CASEY?
"No, I can't. That's kind of like my proprietary stuff, but I did, I had a little plan. Plus, I know Brad Parrott listens to my radio so I try to spook him a little bit. He listens to everybody's radio that he's racing with. I thought about saying something about like Casey had a tire going down or something just to see if they'd put the camera on Brad and he'd flip out."
YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO JUKE HIM? "I was gonna try to make something happen there on the restart. I was about 10 car lengths back and we're running 190 miles an hour and I couldn't do a lot at that point. Then we got a yellow and now it's a whole new ballgame. You get to go through the gears and run down into turn one. I mean, it's open game there, so I look at that as having a lot of options. It's fun to be in second place and have a caution like that, but I didn't have a steadfast plan, I was just gonna do something."
WHAT IS IT ABOUT THESE 1.5-MILE TRACKS?
"The first thing is I've got great teams and I feel like these tracks, when you run well, it's a testament to your race team. It takes a great engine, a great aero package and really smart crew chiefs and engineers and stuff, so I think Jack Roush and his team really are what give me the big advantage. And then the other thing as far as my driving, I feel like these tracks go at the same pace as a half-mile dirt track or three-eighths mile dirt track and that's what I grew up racing on. I feel like the cars kind of move the same and have the same momentum. It works very much like it does at a dirt track, so I just enjoy them."
