AMERIQUEST SETS NASCAR BUSCH SERIES FIRST; FOUR TEAMS AT LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY
CONCORD, N.C., May 23, 2006 -- Four of Roush Racing's premier drivers will suit up in their Ameriquest firesuits for an unprecedented NASCAR Busch Series first. Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards will pilot their Ameriquest Ford Fusions all together for the first time under the bright lights at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Saturday night, May 27, 2006. Martin and Biffle will be sporting the red Ameriquest paint schemes, while Kenseth and Edwards drive the contrasting black versions. This will be the first time in NASCAR Busch Series history that four drivers will represent the same sponsor. So far in the 2006 Busch Series season these four teams have accumulated 33 starts, 1 win, 2 poles, 14 top-5's and 27 top-10's.
"The Charlotte race is unprecedented for Ameriquest Racing in that it is the first time that we are aware of any one company - any single brand - racing four cars in the same race. We are so excited to see our four championship drivers working both as a team and as competitors. We know that they will put on a great show for the fans and it will be very exciting for everyone watching," stated Kevin Morefield, EVP Ameriquest Mortgage Company.
"It's been a while since I've raced a Busch car at Charlotte, so we are excited about getting back out there. Lowe's Motor Speedway might be my favorite track on the circuit and it's always fun to race there. We've had a lot of success in that race over the years and we've been fortunate to win it five or six times," Martin said, "so hopefully we'll be able to go out there and compete and hopefully take our Ameriquest Ford Fusion to Victory Lane."
"When I heard there was going to be four Ameriquest Fusions on the track Saturday, my first thought was, 'I hope my spotter can keep track of me.' But, these cars are painted differently enough to where it shouldn't be that big of a deal," pondered Kenseth. "Ameriquest has really come on board in such a great capacity at Roush, and their presence has meant a lot to our Busch program. Greg's already taken them to Victory Lane once this year and I'd definitely like to be the second to do so. We had a really good test at Charlotte a few weeks ago and I think we should be good for Saturday night. Even if I can't get the win, it'd be pretty cool to see one of my teammates win in a very similar car."
"Wow, four Ameriquest cars at Lowe's! I'm stoked! It's a big weekend for Ameriquest and the No. 16 team is fired up and ready to go. We have a very fast car and we are coming off a great test there. I am very pleased. Lowe's is always exciting. The track is very fast and I expect there will be several cautions. If we can stay out of trouble, I see the No. 16 Ameriquest team headed toward Victory Lane," commented Biffle.
"Racing at Charlotte is a blast!" exclaims Carl Edwards. "All the Ameriquest cars were very fast in testing there. It's going to be a spectacular race having all four Ameriquest Ford Fusions on the track at the same time. As long as we can keep from running into each other it should be awesome. It would be pretty neat if we finished first through fourth. It's never been done before. All the Ameriquest cars were very fast in our test there. I feel very good about our chances in the Busch car. I learned a lot in the All-Star race. It's going to be a tough race and that's going to make it fun."
