CARL EDWARDS -60-National Guard/Charter Ford Taurus (Qualified 3rd)

"I don't think we hit (the wall). All of the National Guard logos are on the car. Congratulations to Kasey and Greg both. Those are fast laps to run here. They told me I ran a flat on the first lap - Brad (Parrott, crew chief) told me that - and I know that some people ran faster on the second lap. I was so loose the first lap that I was hoping to get tighter and I tried for that tenth. I'm just really, really glad that I didn't crash the car. That's as close as I can get to crashing without wrecking. I was really pretty happy that we came out of the deal in third. I think it will be an awesome car to race. It's a little loose and I think that's good once we take the tape off and get into the night here."

"To me, the reason in my eyes, I had trouble driving a little bit today. I almost crashed there on the second lap. I almost crashed once in practice. I think that the track is very sensitive right now to temperature and it seems like different spots on the track have different levels of grip and it's really not something that you can always see. In my eyes it seems like there are some spots that are slippery, but they don't appear any different than other spots. I think that combined with the fact that driving into the shade into one, it had a ton of grip and instilled all of the confidence in the world in my right foot, and by the time I got to turn two I was wrecking because it was so slippery. I think the temperature-sensitive nature of the track was a big deal."

"We came out here with our Charter car and we were really slow in testing. To be honest with you, I was just super-excited. We unloaded today and the motor ran great. The engine had a ton of horsepower and our car was just a lot faster. To me the car is traveling a lot more in the center of the corners. It seems you can go as fast as your car will travel without bottoming. I think it will be a pretty fast race; pretty spectacular corner speeds, I think."

"I think it could be pretty interesting (tomorrow night). I really don't know to be honest with you. It's just a fast race track and it seems like when you get in the sun or there's some slick spots, like coming off of four, it seems a little bit slick and you're really hard in the throttle. I think that combined with a little bit of side-by-side racing is going to take a lot of patience not to wad some cars up. I know I'm going to be very patient."

"I love race tracks that are like this. It's almost like a dirt track. There are places you can find grip, and it's a lot of fun for me. I look forward to a race like this."
