Notes & Quotes
First Start... The Carquest Auto Parts 300 will mark the first time Casey Mears has competed at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The 24-year-old made the switch to stock cars this season after spending the previous five seasons in the open-wheel ranks.
Testing, Testing... The Phillips 66 team spent two days testing at Lowe's Motor Speedway two weeks ago in preparation for the CarQuest Auto Parts 300. The team is scheduled to test at Kentucky Speedway on May 22 & 23.
Casey Mears' Thoughts On The Team's Test At Lowe's Motor Speedway... "We weren't the fastest car at the test, but we were in the top half of the teams that were there. I feel good about the test. It's hard to say how we're actually going to be until we get back there this weekend, but it was a positive test and I think we learned a lot."
Casey Mears' Thoughts On Lowe's Motor Speedway... "I like the track because it's a little different. There are some bumps in places where if you overdrive the car into the corner you can really mess up your lap. It's a fast but technical place, and you need to be careful where you place your car."
Casey Mears' Thoughts On The Ever-Changing Lowe's Motor Speedway... "There's going to be a big difference in lap times from practice to qualifying. From morning to afternoon we saw times drop-off by almost one full second. Fortunately, we were able to experience the changing track conditions during our test and adjust our car based upon the changing weather and track conditions."
Casey Mears' Thought On The Progress With The New Dodge Intrepid... "We're learning more and more as each race and test session pass. We've learned a lot about the front-end geometry of the car and it seems like since Nashville we've had a better grasp on things. We've run well in a lot of races. I'm happy with the progress our team has made and I still believe the Dodge Intrepid has a very good overall package; we're just trying to fine tune that package."
