10 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Regulars Expected to Compete in Busch Series Event
Champions Abound In Stater Bros. 300 At California Speedway
FONTANA, Calif. (February 23, 2004) - The competition line-up for the NASCAR Busch Series Stater Bros. 300 at California Speedway on Saturday, February 26 is solid with nine NASCAR champions contending for the checkered flag.
Among the champions, who pull from the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series (NNCS), NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, are Dale Jarrett (1999 NNCS), Tony Stewart (2002 NNCS), Matt Kenseth (2003 NNCS), Joe Nemechek (1992 NBS), David Green (1994 NBS), Randy LaJoie (1996 & 1997 NBS), Kevin Harvick (2001 NBS), Greg Biffle (2000 NCTS & 2002 NBS) and 2004 NASCAR Busch Series Champion Martin Truex Jr. The field will also see four California Speedway winners, including Kenseth (1999, 2000 & 2003 NBS), Biffle (2004 NBS), Mark Martin (1998 NNCS, 1997 & 1998 IROC) and Harvick (1998 West Series & 2002 IROC).
If that line up wasn't enough, the 300-mile, 150-lap event will have a total of 10 NEXTEL Cup Series regulars among the field, including 2004 Raybestos Rookie of the Year Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards, Jamie McMurray, Dale Jarrett and Michael Waltrip.
Other NASCAR Busch Series veterans and newcomers that will make up the 43-car ensemble in the Stater Bros. 300 are Kenny Wallace, Paul Menard, Michel Jourdain Jr, JJ Yeley and Justin Labonte.
Come out early as the Busch Series qualifying kicks of the full day of entertainment on Saturday, February 26 at 10 a.m. NEXTEL Cup Series qualifying will follow at 12:10 p.m. with the green flag waving for the Stater Bros. 300 at 3:00 p.m. Following the race, Alter Bridge will take to the Miller Lite Rock 'n Racing Concert stage, every guest with a Saturday ticket can watch the musical performance in the infield. A fireworks show will cap off the night. Tickets are $40 and $50.
