The No. 26 Carroll Racing Chevrolet Team and driver, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. experienced an unfortunate mishap while running in a strong seventh-spot in Saturday's Busch race at Michigan International Raceway. Upon entering pit lane on a green flag stop at lap 51, the No. 26 picked up a piece of debris and cut a brake line, causing Hamilton, Jr. to skid past his pit and forcing him to return to the track and come in for a second time. The insident caused the Carroll Racing Chevrolet to loose valuable time, placing the No. 26 in the 35th-spot and one lap down.

With a lot of ground to make up and no front brakes, an undiscouraged Hamilton, Jr. managed to advance 17 spots and bring the No. 26 across the checker in an impressive 18th-finishing spot.
