DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 18, 2003) -- He may be four races into his third full year in the NASCAR Busch Series, but if Scott Wimmer's (No. 23 Stacker 2/Stamina Rx Chevrolet) short history is any indication, his fellow competitors may need to prepare themselves for one of his patented hot streaks.

Wimmer's last three races at Bristol Motor Speedway, site of Saturday's Channellock 250, have produced finishes of sixth, third and second, respectively. His second-place finish in Bristol's 2002 fall race catapulted the 27-year-old native of Wausau, Wisc., to not only a solid standing in the NASCAR Busch Series championship where he finished third at season's end, but was his best career finish prior to a streak that included four wins in the season's final eight races. Three of those victories were in his last four races and he closed out the year with two straight wins.

"I'm real excited going back to Bristol because it is one of my favorite tracks," said Wimmer, who ranks ninth in the NASCAR Busch Series point standings. "Hopefully we can have a good run and if we do, it will be a great momentum booster going into Texas, one of my toughest tracks for some reason."

Wimmer's finishes had improved following each race this season before a "Darlington stripe" on Lap 50 of Monday's rain-delayed darlingtonraceway.com 200 forced him to the pits and out of what was a second-place run. Despite the strife from the stripe, which eventually led to a 28th-place finish, he had posted previous finishes of 12th at Daytona, 11th at Rockingham and 10th at Las Vegas.

Last year, Wimmer reeled off a string of seven top-10 finishes that included his first career NASCAR Busch Series victory (Dover fall) along with two other top fives. In 2001, Wimmer ended his rookie campaign with three top 10s in the season's final four races.
