HAMPTON, Ga. - Greg Biffle went out late and stole the pole and track record from Kevin Harvick with a lap of 192.300 mph. Harvick took his time-trial lap second, also shattering the previous track record with a lap of 191.080 mph, but missing out on the pole.

Harvick led the board until Biffle's attempt, which squelched the previous track record set by Ryan Newman two years ago with an effort of 191.661 mph.

"When Kevin laid down that lap, I didn't think anybody would beat it," Biffle said. "I've been pretty fortunate to drive a car that handles that well."

Harvick maintained the outside pole position.

David Green, who trails point leader Brian Vickers by a mere 23 markers in the race for the championship, was third.

"We were 99.2 percent perfect, Harvick was 99.9 and Biffle was 100 percent," Green said. "It was a great effort. This is a big deal for us to come to the big tracks and qualify up front."

Casey Mears earned fourth, while Busch series point leader, Brian Vickers takes the green flag from the fifth spot on the grid.
