Stanton Barrett spent his week off on the set of the Spiderman two. Barrett, a fifteen-year veteran stuntman is no stranger to action.
"This is a good time for me to get away and visit some of my movie friends. I won't be doing anything too risky. I have too much going on in my racing career". Notes the Roush driver.
Carroll Racing continues to attempt to field two cars for the entire season. Cindi Clark, Dr Pepper Sr. Vice President-Marketing noted that Kevin Grubb in the 26 Dr Pepper Dodge will continue to team with Lance Norick. Grub will remain with the team and is slated to run all but ten of the remaining races of the season.
Dale Earnhardt Jr, in preparation for the team's debut of New Jerseys Martin Truex discussed how he selected the young driver to pilot the number eight Monte Carlo.
"You know, we didn't really have a handful of guys to pick from, so we just kind of sat down and talked about it," Earnhardt Jr. said. "Richie Gilmore, our engine builder at DEI, mentioned Martin as a guy we should look at. I met him down here for the first time last year. He's a pretty quiet, soft-spoken kind of guy but he has obvious talent and he seems like a good guy to work with. He's been to the shop and our guys pitted his car at Nashville last week so he has gotten familiar with them."
Brewco Motorsports is expected to put Joey Clayton into the No. 27 Trim Spa Pontiac. Chase Montgomery will be part of a third Brewco team in as many as six more races this season, joining Clanton and David Green.
Kerry Earnhardt announced that his number twelve Supercuts Monte Carlo will once again show case a Warner Brother Looney Tunes character at a promotion at the Phoenix International Raceway. Earnhardt will join forces once again with Yosemite Sam, in the promotion that will feature divers from Busch, Winston Cup, and the Craftsman Truck Series.
Journeyman Carl Long will attempt to run a Busch entry at Richmond.
