It's Good To Have Friends -
Robert "Bootie" Barker worked with he No. 46 Civil Air Patrol team last weekend in Atlanta as consultant. Bootie and Ashton became friends during their days at Old Dominion University, where they were both obtaining an engineering degree. Bootie has offered to help the Lewis Motorsports team again this weekend in Phoenix.
Ashton Lewis, Jr. on Phoenix:
"Finding the right set-up for a place like Phoenix can be quite a challenge. It's a tough track. You have two different corners, one being wide and sweeping and the other being more narrow. So you are setting a car up to get around a track that is different everywhere you go. If you are really good in one and two, you might have to give a little in three and four. You 're not going to be perfect at both ends of the track, but if you can get it close you'll have a good day. We have been very consistent in our performance over the last several weeks. Going into Phoenix, knowing that we had a strong run there last year, we are feeling pretty confident. Over the last two months, this race team has improved in every area, from the bodies on the car to pit stops to nailing the right set-ups each week. We are looking forward to taking that momentum into Phoenix and being a strong contender for the win."
The No. 46 Civil Air Patrol Racing team will compete with chassis No. 13 this weekend in the Bashas' Supermarkets 200. This is the same car Lewis, Jr. raced earlier this season in the spring Richmond event (30th - accident) and IRP (34th - accident.)
