DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 1, 2002) - The 2002 NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division championship awards banquet will be held Friday, Nov. 22 at the Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando. More than $2.5 million in post-season awards will be presented at the gala event in celebration of the NASCAR Busch Series' 21st year of competition and continued support from Busch beer. The banquet will be televised, tape-delayed, on TNT.

The Portofino Bay Hotel was opened in Sept. 1999, the first on-site hotel at Universal Studios Orlando. Featuring 750 elegantly appointed rooms, the hotel was designed after the Italian seaside village of Portofino. Amenities include eight restaurants and lounges, a 10,600 square-foot health spa, three swimming pools, two bocce ball courts and a full-service business center. Convention facilities include a 15,000 square-foot Grand Ballroom where the banquet will be held. The Portofino Bay Hotel and Hard Rock Hotel are connected to each other and to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and CityWalk by a chain of scenic waterways.

The NASCAR Busch Series is the No. 2 motorsport in America. This year's championship will be decided over a 34-race schedule. Combined with the point fund awards, NASCAR Busch Series competitors will race for more than $25 million in prize money. Kevin Harvick, the 2001 series champion, earned $890,403 from the 2001 point fund and collected more than $900,000 in race winnings during his title run for a season total of over $1.8 million. Point fund awards are paid out to the top 20 teams in the final owner point standings.

In addition to the series championship and point fund awards, several special awards will be presented including the Bud Pole Award, Clevite Engine Builder of the Year, Gatorade Front Runner Award, Goody's Headache Powder Extra Strength Award, Raybestos Rookie of the Year Award and the Most Popular Driver Award.
