Bryan Silas successfully makes Nationwide series debut at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (July 10, 2012) - - With an off-weekend for his primary role in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Stuart, Florida native Bryan Silas took the opportune time to make his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut this past Friday night in the Subway Jalapeno 250 presented by Coca-Cola at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

While the Floridian has mounted hundreds of laps at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, his inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series debut would present a new style of car and ultimately produce a new type of restrictor plate racing for the 25-year old that he had never embraced before.

Still, Silas behind the wheel of the No. 08 Ford Mustang for Randy Hill Racing (RHR) in a collaborative effort with Go Green Racing (GGR) was able to qualify successfully into the 43-car starting field, avoid the carnage and bring home a respectable 20th place effort in his ninth overall racing start at “The World Center of Racing.”

“I had a blast in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race,” said Silas. “I want to thank the team including Paul (Andrews, crew chief), David (Ingram, car chief) and Tim (Andrews, race day spotter) for their help in making my Nationwide debut a rewarding one. I cannot tell you how much I learned from practice on Thursday to the checkered flag on Friday night. To walk away from Daytona with a 20th place car and the car in great shape, everyone was very pleased.”

Silas is optimistic about making more NNS starts down the road. “We’ll see,” he said. “We were testing the waters if you will. I had a lot of fun and I learned a bunch. If it works out we are able to be back in the series again soon, I’ll be grateful for the opportunity, everyone was really welcoming.”

This week, the avid driver returns to the wheel of the No. 99 Rockingham Speedway Ford F-150 at Iowa Speedway for Saturday night’s running of the American Ethanol 200, the ninth race of the year for the NCWTS tour.
